As a human resources professional, I have developed my career so that I have knowledge across many different functions. I have ensured that my focus has never remained narrow and have progressed to the next challenge with that in mind.
I have developed keen analytical skills that have helped me look at issues in a rational way. As a problem solver, I bring different elements together to identify potential solutions and use data and evidence based thinking to evolve the discussions to a new level.
This evidence based thinking has helped when I am creating strategies and creating operation plans. It tells me what the core issues are and helps influence the discussions with the stakeholders.
Outside of work, I take great interested in a number of sports, mainly the various forms of cricket around the world. I love the battle of wits and how there is any interesting battle between the use of raw physical prowess, and the nimbleness and nuance of the mind.
I also spend a lot of times listening and watching comedy. There is a similarity to cricket in that success can be achieved through physicality or through clever thoughts and sharp wit. It provides an open window into how society operates and can make you think about your perspectives. It is also very interesting to hear the technicalities of how a comedian crafts their work, and how they react to their performance and the audience. A lot of can be derived from this and translated into personal and work related activities.
I love to hear new ideas and thinking, often in through the medium of podcast. There is so much to learn and enjoy in this format without the cost of money or censorship of the networks. The free form thinking has allowed me to enjoy comedy, learn about different people, how our minds work and to gain insight into worlds I am not a part of including entrepreneurial thinking.
